We just wanted to write you all and tell you about what is going on in the world of Skypiper. We are in the midst of tracking our new album (yet to be named), and we have decided to go a different route with how we package this new album. We've developed a fun way for us to present our album to you --- But here's the thing. We need some home grown support from you! We've launched a Kickstarter project and we would LOVE IT if you would be so kind as to take a minute and read about it, and decide whether or not you would like to help us accomplish our goal. Here is the link for our Kickstarter page (please copy and paste it into your browser)- followed by a detailed description of the project.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1252895432/skypiper-sequel

"This album will feature 14 new songs, and something EXTRA special for the buyer. --- A professionally bound, FULL COLOR 5.5"Tx8.5"L book that they like to call, "The Skypiper Museum of Arts". The book will feature all original artwork for the album in high definition, vibrant print- as well as lyrics, credits, and thanks. Skypiper has managed to save enough money for the production of this album, but sadly, can not afford pay for the rest of mixing, mastering, and duplication. Estimated costs for all of this will be about $2,000.00

Here's the deal. When thinking about how to package this album, they decided that they wanted to deliver something original to their listeners. Everyone knows that jewel cases end up under car seats, broken, or on a shelf somewhere~ camouflaged in a deep abyss of other albums (you know it's true). So, with this in mind, they decided to go a different route. First came the realization that Skypiper is honored enough to be friends with some truly amazing artists. Not only that, but incredible artists from all over America and Europe, too! They quickly schemed up an idea on how to utilize these wonderful friendships and also make it even more interesting for everyone.

And this is what they came up with:

Skypiper will assign one song from the new album to one of the artists. Their assignment? Simply to illustrate that song. Here's where it gets interesting. Each artist is very stylistically unique and gifted. Skypiper is giving them FULL ARTISTIC FREEDOM to illustrate the song however they choose. Not only that, but they may use whatever medium(s) they would like, as well as much or as little of the canvas as they like. It gets better. They are not permitted to show anyone these art pieces except for the band- Especially the other artists Skypiper is working with. The reason for this is because although Skypiper has complete faith in all of the artists originality, they also understand that influence comes from everywhere, and they want their artists to be completely uninfluenced by any other art piece featured in this book. Once each artist has completed their work, it will be submitted to the band, and once all commissioned pieces are collected- they will be formatted for the book and sent to the printers. Once the books are received by Skypiper, they will include the CD/Download Card to the book and it will be ready for sale!

THANK YOU for your support!"

We traveled through Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri on a little five day run.

We had a great time and met a lot of interesting hoodlums. But even

better than that, we met some very beautiful people and formed a lot

of friendships that we can only hope will grow.

Right now we are in the studio tracking like mad men. The other

day we stuffed Allen into a closet (literally) and put all of his drums

in there with him. He was back-to-a-wall and all of his cymbal's

were overlapping... and he STILL was able to pump out drum tracks

for THREE new songs. Did I mention he only did five takes, total? total.

That guy is a machine. A drum, machine. I tracked bass violin on

all five songs, and ended up re-doing three of them because we stumbled

upon a better way of micing my bass. (on a side note: I've learned

to trust Jason for being the genius producer he is - and that I am too

hard on myself). Michael continues to blow me away with the guitar

parts he comes up with, Kyle has delved deep into his german roots

and managed morph into an accordian playing maestro, and Graham's

guitar sounds incredible in the sanctuary.

Needless to say, we are growing more and more excited each day.

I'll post a little tour movie later, but for now, here is a tasty

smattering of some pictures from tour and the studio. Enjoy.

We ended the night with a set consisting mainly of songs that will probably be on our new album. This was our last local show for a while. Since we are now in the studio, we've decided to not play in Omaha until our new album is done.

Gabriel managed to snap this tasty picture during our soundcheck.

When we recorded 'Lay Low and Pretty", we tracked the core of each song together (drums, bass, guitars), live at Emptyhouse Studio's here in Omaha... In the heat of summer. We then tracked vocals, strings, electric guitar, piano, and aux percussion in the fireplace room of the house Gabriel and Graham grew up in. This time around we will be recording the album in it's entirety at 'The Church', which is the awesome 50's styled sanctuary of Florence Christian Church in Omaha. The acoustics are amazing, and the atmosphere is very comfortable and more than spacious... and Gabriel thinks the ceiling resembles an overturned Noah's Ark. Needless to say we are all very excited to make this album-- and the time is here! We have an over-abundance of new songs that we need to whittle down, and of course, there are always those two or three songs that are not complete that may or may not blossom during tracking.

WE ARE THRILLED to be making this album throughout a true Omaha winter.

We also are working with our good friend, Jesse Hassler of READ:media who will be filming the entire process of this album from start to finish with the amazing Kacie Burkum (Good Morning Dear Photography) and most likely the fashionable Josh Foo. -- These are the wonderful people who made THIS possible.

Now that this website is up and running properly, please come again to find out the doings of our band!
